Education

Education

We create learning materials and offer educational projects to raise awareness of the protection of the Polynesian marine environment.

The education team

Since it was founded in 2004, Te mana o te moana has worked to protect the Polynesian marine environment, with particular attention to sea turtles. Convinced that education is an essential lever for preserving ecosystems, it has built a dynamic and inventive education team.

The team designs and delivers teaching programmes for school and extracurricular audiences, covering themes as varied as sea turtles, coral reefs, marine mammals and ocean protection. Through playful, interactive tools, it sets out to spark young people’s curiosity and get them actively involved in protecting their environment.

The ITE interactive education platform

ITE — education platform

ITE (pronounced ee-tay, for Te 'itera'a i te mau animara) is a free online education platform built by Te mana o te moana to introduce the emblematic marine animals of French Polynesia. Launched on 8 June 2025 with a first module on sea turtles, it offers an immersive journey into Polynesian waters — to learn, to marvel… and to act.

Te mana o te moana makes freely available the teaching tools and educational materials created through its education and outreach work.
